A handsome marine named Christopher Truax Jr, 21, was shot and killed in his car - and he was with his another WOMAN when murdered. Police are looking for information on who may have killed the marine, and why.
Chris' young widow Alexia hailed him in a touching audio message, as an excellent husband and father to their 11-month-son. You are a remarkable husband, man, lover, father, son, marine, and friend,' she said in the audio message shared on local media.
Chris is from New York, but was stationed at the Marine Corps Air station Miramar near San Diego.
Sheriff's deputies saw a car parked in the middle of the street near the Lemon Grove Square Shopping Center on Friday around midnight and found Truax inside bleeding from a gunshot wound.
Paramedics attempted to revive Truax, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at about 12:40 a.m., Williams said.
A woman was also found in the car with him and is currently only considered a witness to the crime, cops say. She's currently being questioned to determine the nature of her relationship with Chris.
Deputies say the woman driving the car stopped when she realized Truax had been shot. She was questioned, but was not considered a suspect.
Investigators haven't released much information on what lead to the shooting, only saying it happened near where the car was stopped. They are still trying to identify a suspect.
In the days since the murder, a makeshift memorial has continued to grow in the neighborhood where Truax was killed. His wife released a statement expressing her devastation. Truax also leaves behind an 11-month-old son.
