The first murder in Philadelphia was recorded last night, at 12:01 AM.

The deadly shooting is the first homicide of 2019, and Philadelphia detectives are working hard to try and solve it.

Shots rang out in the city's Kensington section right as the new year came in.
Police officers on patrol found a man, believed to be in his 20s, lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, at 12:01.

"There are cameras in the area. Hopefully, it was captured on these cameras," said Capt. Tom Davidson.

So far police say that there are no suspects and detectives have not determined a motive at this time.

Philadelphia's murder rate went up last year. The city recorded 351 murders in 2018, the most in 11 years...
