A Louisiana woman was surprised to find that she was recently granted a divorce in Court even though she was not seeking one. The woman discovered documents showing divorce paperwork between her and her husband had been filed and granted, according to authorities.
A news release Thursday quotes Detective Mike King as saying the wife didn't know of the proceedings or want to divorce her husband.
The woman was very much in love with her husband, and had no intent on divorcing.
But her husband, Demario Clark, 27, and his side chick, Lisa McKinney, 50, had other plans. The two were arrested and charged with filing false public records, and forgery charges.
Police claim to have evidence that Demario and Lisa had the divorce papers drawn up and had Lisa's daughter Stanneisha forged the wife’s signature. Police say that Demario then filed the paperwork with Clerk’s Office.
Then a full blown divorce trial happened - all under the wife's nose. During the phony trial, Lisa actually testified as a witness on Demario’s behalf during the proceedings. The divorce was granted on Aug.1.
Demario and Lisa were booked into a Correctional Center following their arrests. Stanneisha McKinney, 26, of Shreveport was also booked into for on forgery charges.
The statement says Demario Clark of Shreveport was arrested on a charge of filing false public records, and Lisa McKinney was arrested on a charge of forgery.
Clark's bond is set at $5,000 and McKinney's at $2,500.
It was not clear whether either has an attorney.
