An Indiana man is spending his 21st birthday behind bars, after being accused of raping an 11-year-old girl that he met on the dating app Tinder..

Dearborn County prosecutors claim that Travis McAdams, 21, met the victim on the app. Prosecutors explained, “It’s my understanding the 11-year-old had portrayed herself as a 16-year-old on the Tinder app and once they had met through Tinder they began to chat through SnapChat.”

The Probable Cause Affidavit stated that the 11-year-old victim and Travis communicated on the app, and sometime in late December 2017 or early January 2018 the two met at the movies.

The 11-year-old claims she walked away to use the bathroom, and when she walked out of the restroom she stated that McAdams put his arm around her neck, covered her mouth and took her to the back of the building where he raped her.

Police said after the alleged rape the 11-year-old met up with McAdams again. Det. Sgt. Kendle Davis with Greendale police says Travis was aware of the child’s true age, and continued to see her knowing that she was 11 years old.

“She advised me that she was scared of McAdams and that’s why she continued to see him a couple of other occasions after this because she was afraid of what he might do to her,” Davis said.

According to the affidavit the 11-year-old’s mother learned of the alleged rape and reported it to police in March.

“The mother did relay to us that she confronted the subject via phone because he contacted her and he didn’t want her to file charges and was attempting to talk her out of it,” Davis said.
