Rapper Lil Pump is at the center of more controversy after being accused of sampling a British musician without permission.
Last week, Pump drops "Racks on Racks" which is off his forthcoming album, 'Harverd Dropout', but Geoff Barrow, the instrumentalist for Portishead, has claimed that he has ripped off their instrumental for "The Alien."
He took to Twitter to air his grievances:
"Who is lill Pump? He’s used Mine and @Benjaminsal Annihilation score in his deeply fucking s*xist song. Just so you know we didn’t give clearance.. As 2 fathers of daughters this shit needs to seriously f*ck off."
He then spoke to Pitchfork about the incident:
"We don't expect any royalties and copyright infringement is not our issue. We want people to know that in no way have we granted the use of our music to be used on a track that is so terribly degrading to young woman. As fathers and firm supporters of the #MeToo movement, we are amazed how tracks like this are not called out by the media for this reason. I know people will try and call us out as old f*ckers and the music ain’t for us and they would be right but misogamy is still bullsh*tt whatever age you are."
'Harverd Dropout' is slated for release Feb. 22.
From the looks of the above tweet, he may also be expecting a lawsuit.
