Lil Nas X won musical event of the year at the 53rd annual CMA Awards, the Country Music Association announced Wednesday.

The official Twitter account for the CMA tweeted the news: "Congratulations to @LilNasX and @BillyRayCyrus for winning #CMAawards Musical Event of the Year for "Old Town Road (Remix)." The winner was just announced on @GoodMorningAmerica!" 

Lil Nas X nabbed the prestigious award alongside Billy Ray Cyrus, as well as producers YoungKio, Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross. According to USA Today, Reznor and Ross earned credit for "Old Town Road" using a Nine Inch Nails sample. 

Back in September, the rapper announced that he was"ready to take a little time off" following a "wild" seven months. 

"Sorry to everyone attending twitchcon or the sandbox music festival, i will not be there. i love u guys and will make it up to you in some way," he continued.
