Legendary martial artist and movie star Jet Li has seen better days. The Hollywood icon, who starred in Lethal Weapon 4and Romeo Must Die, admitted he has not been in the best of health in recent years.
MTO News learned that the below pic was posted by a fan who posed with the action star during a recent visit to Tibet. It shows Jet looking frail and nearly bald.
The 55 year old, Beijing-born kung fu superstar’s health has been in decline since he revealed in 2010 that he was suffering from the debilitating condition that is called hyperthyroidism and he also has a heart condition.
At the time, he said that his body was also breaking down - after years of aggressive movie stunts. He told an interviewer that if he continued making action films, he would end up spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
Jet suffered serious leg and spine injuries over the course of his career, admitting he can't stand for a long period of time without hunching
Here's what he looks like now:
“I’ve suffered from illnesses, for example hyperthyroidism. I am fat but I can’t lose weight because I am taking medication for my illness. The medication is to control my heart beat. That’s why I can’t do lots of exercise,” said Li, who revealed his resting heart rate was around 130 to 140 beats per minute (a normal resting heart rate is between 60 and 100bpm).
Li’s manager, Steven Chasman told The Washington Post that the photo of Li in Tibet “was just a bad photo of someone who is 55 years old”.
