Lee Daniels has vowed to stand by 'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett in a recent interview on 'The Breakfast Club.'
Daniels also says that he will continue to support Smollett despite the outcome because it would be like discarding someone who was "like" his son. Listening carefully, Daniels is careful to not say that he thinks Smollett is guilty - but it's obvious that he did not think Smollett was innocent.
Just a few weeks back, Daniels addressed the scandal on his Instagram page.
"These past couple of weeks have been a freakin' rollercoaster," he said in the video before he claimed that he created the show to "bring America together" and to "talk about the atrocities that are happening right now in the streets."
"We—me and my cast—have experienced pain, and anger, and sadness and frustration, and we really don't know how to deal with it," he continued.
He also stated that the recent episode was filmed "prior to the incident," before stating saying - "This is not what the show was made for."
Is Lee Daniels playing both sides?
