Kim Zolciak has signed on to rejoin the cast of Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta, MTO News has confirmed. She will be a "friend" of the show, and is scheduled to appear on "a majority" of episodes of Bravo's top rated show.

And it was her friend/enemy Nene that pushed hard to bring Kim back on the show.

Our production insider explained, "Nene asked to bring Kim back. She's trying to build a coalition, against Porsha, Cynthia, and Kandi - whom she regards as her enemies."

He continued, "Nene considers Kim a loyal friend - like Marlo - and wants her win her coalition."

It's a surprising turn in the relationship of Kim and Nene. The two ladies friendship seemed officially over after The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 10 reunion - where Nene suggested that Kim was a racist.

But Kim reportedly reached out to Nene, after learning that Nene's husband, Gregg Leakes, had been diagnosed with cancer. Nene explained how it happened on Andy Cohen's WWHL last year:

"When my husband and I announced that he had cancer, Kim reached out. We had a conversation, and she sent over some gifts for Gregg. Very nice. And she kept following up, too. She kept texting me."

On the same show, Nene explained how she expected that she and Kim could be friends again, saying:

"I'm just not a hateful person, and I know how to forgive. I want to move on. So I feel like the ball is in her court because I'm very open with being cool and going out for a drink. Girl, call me."
