During his recent sitdown with Nick Cannon, Kanye West revealed why he interrupted Taylor Swift's 2009 speech at the VMAs.
He blames it all on God.
"Right now, God is giving me the information," Kanye said. "If God ain't want me to run on stage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn't have sat me in the front row. I would've been sitting in the back."
He added, "They wouldn't have made it the first award. It's so ridiculous of an idea because, I had never heard of this person [Taylor] before, and 'Single Ladies' is, like, one of the greatest videos of all time.'
The moment sparked outrage and people threatened to boycott Kanye, but the boycott didn't last. He was then called out for mentioning Taylor in a song, but Kim Kardashian later dropped footage revealing that she knew about the track and had agreed to its release.
