Rapper Kanye West has donated $150,000 to the GoFundMe page for Jemel Roberson, a security guard who was murdered by police.

Roberson was on duty when a shooting broke out at his place of employment. He apprehended one of the men and held him until the cops arrived. When the officers arrived on the scene, they shot Roberson - even though witnesses told them that he was a security guard.

According to CNN, GoFundMe representative Bart Jackson confirmed the donation. The fundraiser has so far raised over $310,000 in 7 days. The initial goal was for $150,000.

The GoFundMe page reads as follows:

“Jemel Roberson was a young man who was greatly loved by all who knew him. He was the light of his mother Beatrice’s life, and was a devoted loving son. Jemel was a gifted basketball player and musician, and his love for God and his family were at the forefront of his life.

“Sadly, Jemel’s life was tragically and unexpectedly cut short this morning as he tried to save others from senseless violence. Today, many remember him as a hero; one who put others before himself.”

Some good publicity for West who is gearing up to release his Yandhi album - due to be released on Nov 30, Black Friday.

We still don't forgive him for his comments about slavery though...
