Jussie Smollet's sister Jurnee and the rest of the Smollet family are supporting the incriminated Empire actor. Jussie was indicted yesterday on charges of felony disorderly conduct.
According to people close to Jussie, the actor's lawyers are working out a plea bargain with prosecutors - where Jussie is released without admitting to guilt.
But sister Jurnee still seems to believe Jussie. Yesterday after news broke of Jussie's pending arrested she re-posted a famous quote by Malcom X posted by their other brother Jocquis about the media twisting facts to make the victim look like the criminal.
"This is the media, the irresponsible media," the posting said. "It will make the criminal look like he's the victim and make the victim look like he's the criminal," the siblings wrote on Instagram.
Now it's not the media twisting facts on Jussie, it's the Chicago prosecutors.
Jussie is scheduled to turn himself in to be arrested today. We expect. a circus at the police station when the Empire actor turns himself in.
Prosecutors say that Jussie staged his anti-gay attack, with two friends. They claim he paid the men, both Black, to dress up as Donald Trump supporters and attack him.
"As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with," the statement said. "He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying."
According to CNN, The "Empire" star told authorities two men who were "yelling out racial and homophobic slurs" assaulted him January 29. He said one attacker put a rope around his neck and poured an unknown chemical substance on him.
