Update: Jay Z clarified his message in a tweet, claiming that he did not mean to diss Kanye (or Kim) with his lyrics.
Jay Z was accused earlier today with firing shots at Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian in a new diss track.
Jay dropped the track - well it's actually a verse - on Meek Mill's new song "What's Free." And the verse appeared to go directly at Kanye and his wife, but never specifically mentioned them by name.
Here are the lyrics in the verse that Jay Z dropped that was believed to go against Kanye in the new Meek Mill song Champion.
No red hat, don’t Michael and Prince me and Ye,
They separate you when you got Michael and Prince’s DNA,
I ain’t one of these house n****s you bought,
My house like a resort, my house bigger than yours,
My spou ― c’mon, man ― my route better of course...
That last line - "my spou" "my route" better of course - seemed to be a direct shot at Kim Kardashian.
Jay Z is married to Beyonce, who is well . . . BETTER than Kim Kardashian. And even though it's TRUE - it's not a very nice thing to say about a man that you used to call a friend.
Last year on Jay's 4:44 project he also addressed Kanye saying:
the subject of Jay's lines about his "little brother" Kanye West on "Kill Jay Z" came up and the icon launched into conversation about better knowing his own self, as well as the persona; issues with his friend.
"It's not even about Kanye, it really isn't," he said. "His name is there, just because it's just the truth of what happened. But the whole point is 'You got hurt because this person was talking about you on a stage.' But what really hurt me was, you can't bring my kids and my wife into it. Kanye's my little brother. He's talked about me 100 times. He made a song called 'Big Brother.' We've gotten past bigger issues. But you brought my family into it, now it's a problem with me. That's a real, real problem. And he knows it's a problem."
