Jay Leno, who is currently at the center of the Gabrielle Union/America's Got Talent controversy, has finally broken his silence on the matter.

"I love Gabrielle Union, she's a great girl. I really enjoyed working with her, she's really good," said Leno.

When TMZ asked him whether he felt that she had been treated fairly, he responded, "I don't know, but I think she's a great girl."

The Being Mary Jane actress has complained about a racially insensitive joke made by Leno on the set. The joke was edited out of the episode before it aired.

Leno had reportedly joked about a painting that featured Simon Cowell surrounded by dogs. He quipped that the dogs looked like something one could find "on the menu at a Korean restaurant."

Producers of the show an NBC released a joint statement following the uproar.

"We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture," the statement said. "We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate."
