The Chi star Jason Mitchell's character is to be killed off after two women accused the actor of harassing them while on set.

Gary Levine, Showtime's co-president of entertainment, revealed the news in a statement on Friday.

"There is a lot of great life in 'The Chi' and there's also death in 'The Chi' and that's how we'll be dealing with it," Levine said during the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

Mitchell was fired from the series following allegations of harassment from showrunner Ayanna Floyd Davis and co-star Tiffany Boone. He was reportedly up to his same antics during the filming of the Netflix flick, Desperados, which led to him being dismissed from the project.

After news of his character being killed off, he posted a statement to his Instagram:

"I think it’s time to make a statement. To everyone commenting without any knowledge of what’s going please stop…and to all my supporters I appreciate you all and I’m sorry I will no longer be in (“The Chi”)..but don’t believe what you read in the media…”
