Issa Rae is reportedly working on a remake of the classic movie, Set It Off.

According to reports, the project is still in early development stage, but Issa will likely star in the movie herself, and it's unknown as to whether it will be an actual remake of the film or just a reboot.

The original movie centered on four friends played by Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Vivica Fox, and Kimberly Elise. The women, strapped for cash, managed to pull off a series of successful bank robberies in Los Angeles.

Rae will produce with plans to star in the project. Syreeta Singleton and Nina Gloster have been hired to pen the script. Montrel McKay (Issa Rae Productions) will produce alongside Rae, per Variety.

Fans are now hoping that the announcement of the new project will not further delay the fourth season of her popular HBO show, Insecure, which is currently filming.
