Actress Hilary Duff was forced to hop online over the weekend to shut down rumors that she allegedly sex-trafficked her own son.
Some Twitter users had cooked up a bizarre conspiracy that Hillary had sold her own son.
The thread, which has since been deleted read:
"Hilary Duff accused of child trafficking, with her own son, a thread…" it continued:
"Liz posted a very disturbing Instagram story last month. It showed her son completely naked and taped to a bed. It was quickly deleted, but Reddit saved the video and reported her. Her ex-husband has been trying to get custody of her son for years."
Hilary was outraged by the claims.
"Everyone bored af right now I know…but this is actually disgusting," she tweeted Saturday. "Whoever dreamed this one up and put this garbage into the universe should take a break from their damn phone. Maybe get a hobby."
Her representative also released the following statement to E! News:
"Let me say this in the strongest terms, this is all a fabricated disgusting Internet lie, created and perpetuated by trolls and idiots. Hilary's own post this morning is all that needs to be said on the matter. Everyone who knows Hilary is fully aware what an amazing mom she is and that requires no further comment. If only people with this much time on their hands used their energy to solve real problems in the world."
