A new exit poll suggests that one major reason that Andrew Gillum lost the Florida Gubernatorial election yesterday, is because a large number of Black women voted for DeSantis, over the Tallahassee mayor.
The exit polling from yesterday's Florida election is being released, and it shows that DeSantis received a disproportionately high percentage of the Black female vote.
While Gillum received 92% of the vote from Black men - he only received 82% of the vote of Black women. And surprisingly DeSantis - who ran a campaign that many are calling "racist" - received nearly 20% of the Black female vote.
Gilliam lost the election by about 50,000 votes. MTO News did the calculations and confirmed that if Black women voted for Gillum at the same rate as Black men - Gillum would have won.
