It may look like a wishbone or part of an orchid flower but this is the world's first full-size, anatomically correct model of a clitoris - made with cutting edge 3D printing technology.

The model will be used to teach sex education to pupils across France, starting this month.

"Considering all the technological, medical and scientific achievements humans have made, this seems to have taken a long time," wrote Minna Salami in The Guardian, UK.

The medical sculpture helps visually debunk the very popular myth that the clitoris is the size of a pea and is only on the outside of the body. MRI machines show that it actually includes two shafts, called crura, (which measure about 3.9 inches long each).

The clitoris encircles also the vagina, allowing penetrative sex to be potentially orgasmic for the woman. The groundbreaking model was conceived in Paris, France by independent sociology/popular science researcher Odile Fillod and photographer Marie Docher.
