The body of former WWE star Shad Gaspard was found on a California beach early -- three days after he went missing after taking a swim.
According to reports, a passerby had spotted the body that had washed ashore on Venice Beach. They then called the cops.
"When last seen by the lifeguard, a wave had crashed over Mr. Shad Gaspard and he was swept out to sea," police said in a statement Monday, but after the body was confirmed as Gaspard's, the LAPD released a separate statement.
"The decedent was identified as Shad Gaspard," police said.
His wife, Siliana Gaspard, issued the following statement Tuesday.
"We would like to express our gratitude to the first responders who rescued Aryeh and to the lifeguards, coast guard, divers, fire and police departments for their continued efforts to help find our beloved Shad," the statement said.
Our prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.
