Tyler Perry officially opened his new studio yesterday - and he threw a star studded gala to celebrate the inauguration of Atlanta's Tyler Perry Studios. The studio is now the largest movie studio outside of Los Angeles.
And just about every Black celebrity in the world came out to the event. Hell you know it's big, cause they even invited us to the event.
Of course we tried to be on our best behavior, as we rubbed elbows with the biggest and wealthiest celebrities in the world.
The 330-acre filming complex at the former home of Fort McPherson officially opened its doors Saturday as the only major film studio in the nation owned by an African-American.
Atlanta figures like Jermaine Dupri, Usher, Ludacris, Bernice King, John Lewis and Stacey Abrams mingled with major Hollywood stars including Halle Berry, Cecily Tyson, Whoopie Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, Samuel Jackson, Spike Lee and Viola Davis -- just to name a few.
Halle Berry talked about what an all black-owned studio means to her.
"It means that we're here, and we ain't going nowhere," Berry said. "And you're going to remember us a hundred years from now ... and that we're important. We matter. We have a right to be. And I love Tyler for that."
Here are some pics from the event:
There were WAAY more celebrities than the ones that we posted above - including BEYONCE, who not only showed up - but she revealed that she's pregnant!!
Congratulations to Tyler for this monumental achievement, we wish him all the success in the world!!
