Nicki Minaj's new album Queen is flopping, and it has folks at her label in an utter panic. MTO News learned that early projections show that Nicki Minaj's latest album is scheduled to sell less than 100K units in its first week and only about 5,000 in pure sales.
To put in perspective just how BAD that is, Cardi's album sold 254,228 copies first week with 105,130 of those as pure sales.
MTO News spoke with an executive at Universal who was in full panic mode, the insider suggests that he label may try and "buy" some of Nicki's albums - to try and improve her dismal numbers. The insider explained, "This looks bad, we have to do something."
Nicki Mianj's fall for the top of hip hop has been swift and brutal. Just two years ago people were saying she was the top female rapper in history, now she's being outsold 20-to-1 by Cardi B.
"I'm not only exhausted and delusional, but I get to be live with you guys and go over my album," she joked on-air, saying she pulled an all-nighter to prep for her album release.
The tracklist includes previous singles "Chun-Li," "Bed" and "Rich Sex" and a stacked guest list of features from artists including Ariana Grande, Future, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Foxy Brown, The Weeknd and Swae Lee.
Her first studio album since 2014's "The Pinkprint," "Queen" was supposed to be a big comeback for Nicki.
