Eddie Murphy will return to host Saturday Night Live! For the first time in 35 years!

Murphy last hosted an episode of the show in 1984. He did return for an episode back in 2015 - but fans were left disappointed that he did not reprise any of his previous characters. He explained that he was asked to play Bill Cosby in the anniversary special amid the Bill Cosby controversy which led to him being imprisoned for sexual misconduct.

"There's nothing funny about it. If you get up there and you crack jokes about him, you're just hurting people," Murphy told the Washington Post at the time. "You're hurting him. You're hurting his accusers. I was like, 'Hey, I'm coming back to SNL for the anniversary, I'm not turning my moment on the show into this other thing.'"

A great year for Murphy who has reportedly inked a $70 million deal with Netflix for several comedy specials.
