President Donald Trump trended online on Sunday after it was reported that he called Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex "nasty" in an interview with UK tabloid The Sun.

Trump denied referring to Markle in such a way, tweeting:

"I never called Meghan Markle “nasty.” Made up by the Fake News Media, and they got caught cold! Will @CNN, @nytimes and others apologize? Doubt it!"

But the tabloid released the audio clip - and he clearly says the word:

During an appearance on 'The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore' back in 2016, Markle confessed that she would consider moving to Canada if he were elected. She also referred to him as "misogynistic."

Some disputed the context in which Trump used the word:

Trump is headed to the UK to have dinner with Queen Elizabeth II, and other members of the Royal family on June 4. Markle will not be attending.
