Donald Glover has been the latest celebrity to speak out in defense of Halle Bailey's casting as 'The Little Mermaid' in the upcoming live-action movie.

"I thought that was so special," Glover told E! News on Tuesday at the premiere of Disney's live-action reboot of The Lion King, in which he portrays adult Simba.

"We were just watching that film and I'm like, that's such a great story but I'm just like, I dunno, I just hope that she's like having fun and don't let anybody make you feel the opposite of how you want to feel. It's a very special role and you earned it, so I hope you're listening."

Some folks on social media were outraged that a Black woman could play Ariel, the fictional mermaid portrayed as a white woman with red hair in the original animation. Many have threatened to boycott the movie. But as we know, the Black dollar is mighty, so the boycott will have zero impact.
