The brand posted a video to Chinese social media platform Weibo, to promote their 500-look #DGTheGreatShow runway presentation scheduled to take place in Shanghai.

The video shows a Chinese model attempting to eat various Italian foods with chopsticks. There is a voice-over making comments about the food being "too big" for the model - playing on stereotypes about Asian women's genitalia.

Diet Prada then posted screenshots between DM between Stefano and Dieter about the removal of the video, and everything goes further downhill.

Gabbana is claiming to be hacked and denies making the insulting remarks about China.

The brand also released a statement about the leaked DMs.

“Our Instagram account has been hacked. So has the account of Stefano Gabbana. Our legal office is urgently investigating. We are very sorry for any distress caused by these unauthorized posts, comments and direct messages. We have nothing but respect for China and the people of China.”

Look at the DMs - the evidence is pretty damning!
