DMV Rapper Goonew is believed to have died in a shooting in District Heights, Maryland, MTO News has learned. That makes him the 22nd rapper to die so far this year, and we’re less than three months into the year.
The rapper’s friends and fans continue to flood social media with emotional tributes to the artist, who was famous for two solo mixtapes, Goonwick and Big 64, as well as Hey Auntie.
The Prince George Police Department tweeted about a shooting that occurred Friday evening.

“At approx. 5:40 pm, officers responded to the area for a report of a shooting. Once on scene, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital for life threatening injuries.
“At approx. 7:30 pm, the victim was pronounced dead.”
This isn’t the first time that Goonew got shot. Last year, the rapper was nearly killed last year after allegedly suffering from gunshot wounds.
They are currently investigating the death as a homicide, according to reports by Goonew’s loved ones.
While PGPD has not yet confirmed the identity of the victim, police told MTO News that they are actively seeking any information regarding Friday’s shooting.
