Daniel Caesar was officially canceled earlier this week after he went on an anti-Black rant live via his Instagram page - but DeRay McKesson has spoken out in defense of him.

In the rant, the Grammy award-winning star said:

"Why are we being so mean to Julz? Why are we being so mean to white people?"

He also said:

"White people have been mean to us in the past, yeah, but what are you going to do about it? Tell me what you're going to do about that? [...] Are we on top of society? We're not. You can't win the game by choosing to not accept the winning team's strategy. You have to acknowledge the strategy and build a strategy on top of that."

Many were floored by Caesar referring to white people as "the winning team" and it was over for him and the many Black fans who helped get him where he is.

But activist DeRay tweeted that he spoke to Caesar and claimed that the singer/songwriter had a lot of growing and learning to do:

But it seems that even after speaking to DeRay, he hopped on Twitter to double down in his drunken rant:

He later deleted the tweets.
