Dallas police have charged a buzzing 19 year old rapper named Lul Reese with murder. They claim that the hip hop artist shot and killed a 9 year old girl, over a hip hop beef.

Tyrese "Lul Reese" Simmons, 19, turned himself into Dallas police yesterday in connection with the shooting death of Brandoniya Bennett, 9.

According to Brandoniya's family, the child was sitting on the couch after just having her nails done when she was struck in the head by a stray bullet.

“As adults, as parents as police officers, we’re supposed to make them safe, as community leaders, we’re supposed to make them safe,” said Dallas Police Department Maj. Danny Williams. “She was sitting in her house, she felt safe… she was only 9-years-old.”

There was a frantic scene outside the complex Wednesday afternoon after Bennett was shot. Witnesses and responding officers made a desperate attempt to get her to a hospital quickly but she died soon after.

Police say that Lul Reese shot her - recklessly. They say an argument between Lul Reese and another rapper over “diss tracks” resulted in the shootout and little Brandoniya Bennett was killed as a result.

Police say that social media was a major help in bringing Lul Reese into custody. Witnesses told police they broke up the argument before Lul Reese told the other man he would return to “air this place out,” meaning he would return to shoot the place up.

Bennett’s death is one of three homicides in just over a month at the Dallas Housing Authority run apartment complex.

Police said they will have a 24 hour patrol watch there for the foreseeable future.
