A rape case against legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been dropped.
Kathryn Mayorga accused Cristiano Ronaldo of raping her at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009, has reportedly been dropped. The rape allegations had sent Juventus' shares down 15% has been quietly dropped. Mayorga said in the complaint that while she had agreed to a settlement with Ronaldo after the alleged assault.
She also alleged that she had suffered from severe emotional trauma at the time and wasn’t competent to participate in the mediation.
According to Bloomberg, she filed a voluntary dismissal of the case in May at Nevada state court, with it unclear whether Ronaldo and Mayorga reached a settlement in the case.
But there appears to be some confusion surrounding the case.
However, Rafael Buschmann of Der Spiegel as denied that the case has been dropped:
"The case is not closed, it is just at a different court now. After it was not possible for Mayorga‘s lawyers to serve #Ronaldo with the complaint, they filed it at a federal court," he tweeted.
