Conor McGregor may have just announced his retirement from MMA, but the fighting champion is reportedly being investigated in Ireland for sexual assault.

According to the New York Times, a woman accused the fighter of sexually assaulting her back in December 2018, but he has not been charged with a crime. The name of the victim has not released and in Ireland, the media are not allowed to release the name of individuals charged with rape unless they have been convicted of the crime.

A spokesman for Ireland’s police service, known as the Gardai, would not confirm if McGregor is the suspect to the NY Times.

In response to a request for comment related to an “unnamed sportsman,” it said a man was arrested on Jan. 17 and released without charge while investigations continued.

“Investigations are ongoing in this case, and at this time a file continues to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions,” a police statement said.
