A Chicago man is alive after being struck by a speeding subway car, MTO News has learned. And many are calling it a miracle.
The man was struck as he waited on the platform at the 79th Street Red Line station on the south side of Chicago. The incident occurred on Sunday at about 2:00 pm in the afternoon.
Authorities say that the man leaned over the platform and was hit by an oncoming train and the train struck the man right in the face, causing injuries to his head.
Surprisingly the man survived. Paramedics rushed to the train station and whisked the seriously injured man to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he is said to be in serious condition.
Police are investigating whether the man may have been attempting suicide.
