The prominent British rapper Cadet was killed this morning in a terrible car crash, involving a taxi. The accident occurred as Cadet left a performance at Keele University in Newcastle, UK early this morning.

The 28-year-old Cadet, whose real name Blaine Cameron Johnson, was a passenger in a taxi when a Toyota Prius crashed into his car at 1:30am.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, and tried to revive Cadet to no avail - he died at the scene.

The two drivers, both of the taxi and the Prius survived. Both men, aged 36 and 22, were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with serious injuries. Three other passengers in the Toyota were treated for minor injuries and released.

Footage recorded by a fan at Keele University Union show the rapper energetically performing on stage just hours before the horrific crash.

A statement from Johnson's bereft family shared on his Instagram read: 

'We the family of Blaine Cameron Johnson known as Cadet (Underrated Legend) would like to share the sad news that during the early hours of 9th February 2019 he passed away as a passenger in a taxi, en route to a performance.
