Adidas may be preparing to DROP KANYE WEST - now that a new petition is putting pressure on the company.
African American leaders are launching a boycott of Kanye after recent comments — where Yeezy said that slavery was "like a choice" for Black people.
Kanye's comments are a dangerous FALSE NARRATIVE created by White Supremacists and Nazis, and pushed in Right wing circles.
Now, angry African American leaders are taking their boycott to a much more serious level - they want Adidas to drop Kanye West and the Yeezy brand entirely.
A new petition on Care2 is urging Adidas to drop Kanye West and Yeezy. 'Ye's Yeezy brand was initially done as a collaboration with Nike before he went to Adidas for more money.
The petition states, "While Kanye can live safely in his multi-million dollar castle, the rest of black America is continually marginalized and subject to unjust laws and treatment. Some even die because this behavior is so ingrained in our society," "Kanye West has a right to free speech, and he has the right to spout lies and misinformation and misplaced opinions — but we as consumers have the right to fight back against this type of dangerous propaganda."
Here's what Adidas is saying now:
According to a new article by Bloomberg, "Adidas doesn't need Kanye West." The article continues:
West's Yeezy Boost sneakers have helped maintain a buzz around the brand. But his clothing range for Adidas Originals, while a useful marketing tool, appeals to a niche audience. The overall Adidas Originals business had double-digit sales growth in 2017, but this wasn't all down to Yeezy. Other parts of the Adidas empire did equally well or better. Rorsted said West made a limited contribution to Adidas revenues.
