Lanekia Michelle Brown, 37, died in Mississippi police custody - and police are refusing to say WHAT KILLED HER

Lanekia Michelle Brown, 37, died while in the Madison County Detention Center in Mississippi. And the circumstances surrounding her death are very suspicious.

Lanekia was awaiting trial for a Trafficking of a Controlled Substance charge in the detention center.

She mysteriously died last week inside the jail. Police told Lanekia's family that a nurse went to check on Lanekia after she complained of stomach pains. Correction officers claim that by time the nurse arrived, it was too late.

“They did CPR on her over and over… still didn’t get no response [sic]… So he just said she was gone,” Lanekia’s mom told reporters.

“It’s very suspicious because like I said we talked to her and she was okay. If she had any kind of problems, she would have let us know,” Another family member said.

Lanekia never had any health issues, but she was three to four weeks pregnant.

After learning of her daughter’s death, Lanekia family members drove down to Madison County to learn more about Brown’s death and collect her items. Police are now refusing to answer any questions regarding her death.

Lanekia’s family was asked to come back Wednesday, December 26 for more information, and they weren’t able to identify the body.

Lanekia left behind two children.
