A 25-year-old man named DeShawn Horne is clinging to life at a Seattle hospital – he’s in a deep coma, with suspected brain damage.
Police have the suspected racist killer, 18-year-old Julian Tuimauga in custody. According to authorities, Julian attacked DeShawn with an aluminum baseball bat on Jan. 20 while using the N-word.
DeShawn met a woman in her mid-20s at a club, and she took him and another young man back to her home in Seattle.
According to reports, DeShawn and the woman spent the night at the home, and she called a Lyft to take DeShawn home the next morning.
But DeShawn was ambushed before he could enter the car by a BAT WIELDING Julian. He came up to the vehicle from the side of the family’s house, where Tuimauga started fighting with him.
According to The Seattle Times, the driver heard Julian say, “This is what happens when you bring black people around here.”
Julian apparently told authorities that the reason for his attack was that believed that the victim had intercourse with his sister.
DeShawn was struck multiple times in the head and is now clinging to life.
DeShawn's mother LaDonna Horne and other members of his family and close friends have been keeping a vigil at his bedside - waiting for him to wake up from his coma.
For now, Julian has been charged with malicious harassment, the state’s hate-crime charge, as well as first-degree assault and currently is being held in the King County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
Here are some pictures of Julian's sister - its not clear whether THIS IS THE WOMAN involved with DeShawn):
