Police are investigating claims that a Black high school football player was forced to sit in a locker filled with bananas by his racist teammates.
Illinois cops are reviewing a video that went viral where the black football player is in the locker room surrounded by his teammates. One can be heard telling him to get into the locker where there were hanging bananas.
“Get in the chair or I’ll break your knees,” the boy says, as others shouted, “Yeah!”
The incident had taken place at Moline High School and all parties involved have been identified. They are unlikely to reveal their identities as all involved are minors.
“The video depicted a young man who was confirmed to be a student and football player at Moline High School,” Rock Island County State’s Attorney Dora Villarreal said a press release. “Upon review of all the facts gathered by the Moline Police Department, numerous witness interviews and diligent investigation by the Moline Police Department and cooperation by students and staff, this Office has referred the matter for appropriate action in our Juvenile Division.”
