One of the stars of the inaugural Big Brother season, houseguest Cassandra Waldon, passed away late last month MTO News has confirmed. News of Cassandra's death, however, was not publicized until yesterday.

The Big Brother cast member was reportedly in a car accident in Rome, Italy two months ago and sustained massive injuries that left her in a coma. And some of Cassandra's family members are speaking out on social media, claiming that they were not given all the details of her death.

According to online reports, Cassandra was working for the United Nations in Rome as its Director of Communications for the International Fund for Agricultural Development when the accident occurred and suffered "a head injury" from which she never recovered.

Here is a touching tribute to her online:

Our thoughts are with Cassandra’s family during this difficult time. But may she forever live on in their memories.

So who was Cassandra on Big Brother. Here's how the website Soap Dirt describes her:

Not only was she the first person to ever enter the Big Brother house, but she was also the one that began a big curse. Fans refer to it as the “First to Enter Curse” because the first person to enter has never won on either the US or Canadian versions of the show. The only one to ever overcome the curse is Celebrity Big Brother (CBBUS2) winner Tamar Braxton.

Back on BB1, Cassandra Waldon was the first to be brought back by a twist after an eviction. Her castmates banished her. Then, they were ordered to pick one they banished to return. Ultimately, Cassandra ended up in sixth place out of the ten players and lasted a total of 72 days in the house. After the Big Brother season, she returned to her job as a United Nations staffer.
