The new season of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta is starting off with disastrous ratings. And that's because the star of the show Nene Leakes has not appeared in either of the first two episodes.
Nene, who was the highest paid Housewife, was suspended for the first three episodes of the season. The suspension came after a violent outburst she had last season - where she inadvertently knocked out the tooth of a Bravo cameraman.
This was not the case for the show just a few years ago. Until recently, The Real Housewives of Atlanta was the #1 rated cable show on Sunday nights. Now they've dropped to 4th, behind TLC's 90 Day Fiancé and the cartoon series Rick & Morty.
And TLC's series Unexpected: Tell All is quietly closing in on Bravo's top rated show.
We spoke with multiple producers who are extremely worried about the show's slow start.
One producer told MTO News, "We need Nene back. She's who draws ratings."
NeNe began Season 11 of the Bravo series by tearfully telling viewers Gregg had been diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in May of 2018. As the episodes progressed, NeNe's relationship with Gregg became so strained that the words "separation" and "divorce" made their way into various conversations. As a result, she lashed out at the show's cast and crew, broke down on camera multiple times and even took to social media to vent about her "mean, grouchy and evil" husband.
While many fans supported the reality star throughout the process, others criticized the way she chose to publicize her frustrations with her sick husband.
