It happened again. Yesterday a Dallas police officer shot and killed an unarmed and innocent Black woman, while she was inside her own home.
Last year, a Dallas police officer shot and killed Botham Jean, while he was at home quietly living his life inside his apartment. Eventually a jury convicted the police shooter Amber Guyger of murder.
Now Dallas is caught in the midst of a similar police killing.
According to local reports, a Fort Worth police officer shot and killed a woman inside a home early Saturday.
The victim, 28 year old Atatiana Jefferson, died immediately from her wounds.
It all started when Atatiana's neighbor James Smith called the police - when he noticed that her door was open. Now he's sorry that he ever got the police involved.
“I’m shaken. I’m mad. I’m upset. And I feel it’s partly my fault,” he told a Fort Worth newspaper. “If I had never dialed the police department, she’d still be alive.”
