Warner Bros. announced this week that a sequel to their successful DC movie, 'Aquaman' will be headed to a screen near you on Dec. 16, 2022.

The news should not come as a huge shock as the superhero flick, which stars Jason Momoa racked up an impressive $1.1 billion at the global box office since its December.

The film is the highest-grossing DCEU film.

"The universe isn't as connected as we thought it was going to be five years ago," Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara told the Los Angeles Times.

"You're seeing much more focus on individual experiences around individual characters. That's not to say we won't at some point come back to that notion of a more connected universe. But it feels like that's the right strategy for us right now."
