Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood has NOT been fired from MTV, MTO News has learned.
This summer Amber was arrested in Indianapolis, Indiana and charged with two counts of domestic battery and one count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, after she struck her ex Andrew Glennon in the neck while he held infant son James in his arms. Amber then threatened to commit suicide by overdosing on clonazepam, and used a machete to attempt and break into the room where Andrew was hiding with their son. The incident was caught on audio tape.
Shortly after the incident, most fans of Teen Mom expected Amber would be fired. MTV couldn't possibly allow a person threatening murder to be on TV - could they?
Well, yes they can.
According to the popular (and accurate) blog The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, the execs at MTV had a conference call to discuss Amber’s future on the show. On one hand, executives talked about the ratings bonanza it would be to have Amber on the show, given her recent charges. But the executives also spoke about the risks of filming with her also.
In the end - money and ratings won out.
“She is not being fired by MTV,” a source told the popular blog, which is also reporting that Amber is already back to “work” filming the upcoming season of Teen Mom.
“Amber has 100 percent filmed for the new season,” the source says. “[The producers] plan to film with Amber through her court trial [for the domestic battery charges.] Whatever happens there will obviously dictate if she remains on the show or not.”
