Former NBA star Amare Stoudemire filed to divorce his wife Alexis Welch after six years of marriage, following a 2017 lawsuit over his alleged love child. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Amare and Alexis have been together since the early 2000s and jumped the broom in 2012. She was with him through his entire NBA season, holding him down. They also have 4 children together, with the youngest born in 2013. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Amare filed the divorce nearly two years after a Florida woman named Quynn Lovett accused the baller of having a secret side baby with her. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Alexis has yet to file a response to Stoudemire’s divorce petition, nor does she have a lawyer listed as representing her as of yet. The case is still open and the divorce has yet to be finalized.
In the suit, filed in April 2017, Quynn sued Amare over paternity and child support for her baby girl, Zoe Renee.
In response, the baller admitted he could be the father and revealed that he’d been paying child support without a court order, but Lovett wanted something official. So, after months of back and forth, the legal battle was officially settled in October with a DNA test proving Stoudemire fathered the young girl. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now that it's clear he was caught slipping - Amare has filed to divorce his wife, instead of dealing with the consequences of his actions
According to the Blast, Stoudemire made $161 million in his 15-year NBA career.
