Akon blasted the VH1 franchise Love & Hip Hop during a recent interview, saying, "it's not real, it's propaganda."

"Love and Hip-Hop' ain't really real. That's all propaganda…I am [on the show,] but I was there just to help create a storyline," he told Ebro In The Morning.

His comments come as Akon, and his ex-wife/girlfriend Tricia Ana, who is the A&R for his Konvict Music label made an appearance on Love and Hip-Hop: Hollywood.

"She actually is an A&R for my company – at the time. You know, this was shot, like, last year. So the whole idea was to create a platform to be able to promote our acts on it. So to make the story seem as real as possible, we did the boardroom spot. [We] did the studio building in LA just to create the storyline, and say, 'Okay, that's real!'"
