16 year old Breaunna Brown from Fayetteville, NC was shot and killed by her boyfriend. But police are calling the killing an "accident."
Breaunna Brown, 16, was shot and killed Wednesday. Her 21-year-old boyfriend, Timothy Swinson-Willis, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with her death.
According to authorities, Breaunna was shot in the face by her boyfriend Timothy.
Breaunna's aunt told local media, "Anybody that has a gun should know what they're doing with it before they take it out and start to play with it. You're 21 years old. My niece is 16. You should have never been with her."
Breaunna's uncle also told reporters that her family didn’t know how old Swinson-Willis is. The couple had only been together for a few months.
Brown was a former student at Westover High School. "We extend our heartfelt sympathy to her family," the school said in a statement.
Police said they believe Brown and Swinson-Willis knew each other. Swinson-Willis is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond, the release said.
"They say it was an accident. I am confused. I want murder charges. I want him to get the toughest penalty out there," the girl's mother Natasha Waytes said.
The family has started a GoFundMe to help cover the cost of funeral arrangements. Family and friends were set to gather outside the apartment yesterday at 8 p.m. to remember the 16-year-old.
