HERO Crossing Guard Gave Up Her OWN LIFE . . . To Protect The CHILDREN . . . That Were Walking To SCHOOL!! (She Was Hit By A TRUCK . . . Saved COUNTLESS Children)
A popular Long Island, New York crossing guard was killed - she reportedly GAVE HER OWN LIFE - to save the children she helped go to school every morning.
Virginia Carol Leviner was a Hempstead village police crossing guard for 28 years. Yesterday she was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer.
The crash happened at about 7:30 a.m. Police say a tractor-trailer was turning right when the rear struck Leviner, knocking her to the ground. Police believe that Virginia, or Miss Carol, managed to push a number of children out of the way before getting hit. No children were seriously injured by the out of control truck.
She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She was 67 years old.
